I’m really anxious about public speaking. Really feel like I could do with some help. Confidence an issue. You heard the one about what lies at the bottom of the sea and shakes – a nervous wreck. Well that’s me when it comes to public speaking. No obvious reason for it I think – I’m reasonably presentable. fairly articulate and I write fairly well. So what the hell is wrong,….
I will duck and dive to avoid these situations but really have to conquer the fear.
I do have a mild form of dystonia which probably does not help as all my muscles get really tight when under a lot of pressure/stress.
Anyway, your views re courses, etc, would be welcome.

Hi Francis. Thanks for taking the time to respond and for the openness in the comments made. Three ‘potential’ cures (this is ‘fixable’). 1. Sign up for a commercially available programme. 2. Join Toastmasters (virtually free). 3. Get individual coaching on this topic (it’s one of the spaces where I work). I am in Portugal as we speak – back at end of the month – 087 2439019 – if you want more detail. I have seen people who were very nervous, morph into excellent presenters. There are a few simple ‘tricks’ of the trade which are easy to learn. Best wishes. Paul
